Deadly EF5 Tornado Demolishes City of Joplin, Missouri May 22, 2011

Tragically Joplin, Missouri was the victim of a horrific EF5 Tornado  that demolished businesses, homes, and vehicles in the town of 50,000 people on Sunday May22, 2011. This storm has been estimated to have caused over $3 Billion dollars in insured losses so far & is responsible for the deaths of over 200 people and counting. Joplin’s EF5 Tornado has been reported as the deadliest on record in history since nearly six decades.

This tornado was a category EF5, the highest possible ranking. It destroyed 95% of the community of Greensburg, Kansas. This tornado reached 1.7 miles wide and had wind speeds of over 203 mph. In the end this tornado outbreak killed 20 people.
