The First Tornado Ever Filmed

Kentucky 1996 Tornado

On May 28, 1996 an F3 Tornado hits Mt. Washington, Kentucky

This storm strengthened as it crossed into Bullitt Co. debarking and ripping trees out of the ground. It crossed through the towns Pioneer Village, Hillview, and eventually Mt. Washington. This twister was classified as an F3 tornado on the Fujita Scale. The tornado damaged approximately 600 homes including one which was completely leveled.

South Dakota 1993 Tornado

A large supercell appeared over the upper midwest on June 7, 1993. This storm produced 41 confirmed tornadoes ranging from F0 – F4. The wedge in this video is an F4 tornado. There were no casualties from this tornado.

South Dakota 2006 Tornado

Throughout the South Central regions of South Dakota a storm erupted on August 26, 2006. The severity of the storm focused on Beadle County where three confirmed tornadoes touched ground. Two of these tornadoes did considerable damage to local farmsteads, crops, and power lines.

Indiana 2009 Tornado

Fayetteville, Indiana is Hit by an EF3 Tornado on March 8, 2009

On March 8, 2009 a severe thunderstorm rolled across Southern Indiana dropping at least three tornadoes. One of these was an EF3 tornado that marched through Fayetteville, Indiana. A school bus was flipped onto a house and another 20 homes were destroyed, but luckily there were no casualties.

Colorado 2010 Tornado

2 Tornadoes Appear Near Campo, Colorado on March 31, 2010

This storm was reported by Simon Brewer and Juston Drake on March 31, 2010. They intercepted the tornadic supercell thunderstorm northwest of Campo, CO. They documented a mesocylone occlusion, golf ball-sized hail, and the storm then produced a very photogenic tornado south of Campo.

Nebraska 2000 Tornado

F3 Tornado on May 17, 2000 in Brady, Nebraska

This was an F3 tornado that ran across the Brady, Maxwell area in 2000. This tornado was unique because it ran Northwest, while most tornadoes ran in a more eastern direction. This particular storm generated 27 other tornadoes this night.
